Save the date: 3rd Sustainable Food Meetings
For this3rd edition, the Sustainable Food Meetings are evolving both in form and in content in a context of unprecedented crises. From January 21 to March 11, 2021, the conferences, round tables and participatory workshops will take place 100% online and will promote the sharing and mobilization of the actors of the transition. Making your voice heard, building together, strengthening synergies
The crises we are going through highlight the vulnerabilities and the role of our food systems. While many of us were already taking action by carrying out or supporting a multitude of initiatives in favour of transitions, we are now seeing our societies weakened. Health crisis, climate change, collapse of biodiversity, explosion of social inequalities, multiplication of migration crises… We must both react urgently and prepare for tomorrow.
“Faced with the difficulties of the current period, it is important that sustainable food actors can collectively show the solutions they are supporting,” explains Clément Cheissoux, Sustainable Food Program Manager. “This is the time to make their voices heard and to build together a desirable future, to strengthen synergies to allow these solutions to change scale. In a context of recovery, the Rencontres are also an opportunity to learn about and discuss the opportunities identified by everyone, and to see how the transitions we want can emerge as a powerful and unifying social project. »
Following on from the previous edition, we will organize these Meetings in partnership with Ademe, AgroParisTech, INRAE, the Unesco Chair in World Food Systems at Montpellier SupAgro and the Banque des Territoires of the Caisse des Dépôts. This series of events aims to be a privileged space for sharing and working for the large community of sustainable food stakeholders. A community driven by the desire for an agroecological, democratic and inclusive transition, which supports or carries out many initiatives in favor of a fairer, more supportive and environmentally friendly agricultural and food system.
What food systems in the face of crises?
In this unprecedented context, this third edition of the Rencontres will therefore mobilize us around a central question: What food systems can we build to prepare for and respond to future crises? To do this, we will invest more particularly in themes such as reterritorialization, social justice, human and environmental health; and we will activate the imaginaries and possible levers in the service of transitions.
The programme is structured around 3 highlights between January and March 2021.
#Contexte: What is the assessment of these crises and what are the prospects?
#Actions: What approaches and initiatives can be used to change the situation?
#Coopération: What tools and collective actions can be taken to accelerate the transition?

Planned 100% online, the conferences, round tables and workshops are designed to promote participation and mobilization. The current context encourages us today to go further than previous editions of the Conference. “It is no longer just a question of sharing observations, knowledge and facilitating meetings between actors in the agroecological and food transition,” says Clément Cheissoux. “Beyond developing synergies and one-off cooperation, we hope that this edition will be a step towards consolidating a community of change, based on common values, focused on the general interest, and concerned with implementing the solutions advocated by citizens.”
