A “living” exhibition to discover at the Centre Pompidou!

Socially engaged art
Share on :

The exhibition “The Factory of the Living” continues at the Centre Pompidou until 15 April. We are pleased to support this exhibition, which links with our Art, Science and Society program, by questioning the interactions between arts, science, engineering and innovation.

Exposure to the evolving material

The exhibition traces an archaeology of the living and presents, in a prospective manner, the most significant creations and innovations in the fields of art, design, architecture and music. It brings together the recent works of some fifty creators as well as research from scientific laboratories. Its very material is evolving, with some works being involved in a process of growth or degeneration. About a hundred projects are on display, including several designed for the occasion.

This exhibition is part of “Mutations / Creations”. This cycle of the Centre Pompidou brings together artists, engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs, all the protagonists of the sensitive and the intelligible, who inflect and transgress our present.

A series of events to explore the notion of behaviour matter

Organized with the support of the Arts & Sciences Chair, various events to explore the notion of “behavioral matter” will also be held around this exhibition. We invite you to discover them and ask yourself questions with us: How can we create by drawing inspiration from the living or with the living, to compose with living or partially living systems or organisms? An approach that involves rethinking the relationships between humans, non-humans and environments.

23 February – 14 April 2019 : Behaviour Material – Cycle of workshops for children

March 15 – 17, 2019 : Behavioral Matter – International and public research-creation workshop

March 29, 2019 : International conference “Composing with the living” and “Dissect” evening
