Testimonies from the teaching teams, students and artistic partners, reports from the heart of the 5 schools, presentation and news of the 28 projects in progress… For its3rd year, the Experimental Program for the Generalization of the Arts in Schools, PEGASE, is launching its website and a newsletter. It was an opportunity to highlight the cultural and artistic initiatives carried out in 5 schools of the Academy of Versailles thanks to this program developed as part of our Citizen Art axis. Art and culture in schools

Strengthening the place of art as a source of joy, fulfilment and social bonding: this is the ambition that we translate in particular by supporting education and mediation. Thus were born the PEGASE program in France, and the PLANEA program in Spain to act on the ground so that all students can benefit from an artistic and cultural education during their schooling, from kindergarten to high school.

Through PEGASE in France, we are committed to financing partner institutions for 5 years over the long term, according to their needs, and to providing the necessary support to network them with the artistic and cultural structures of the territory. Launched at the start of the 2018 academic year, this program is the result of a partnership with the Academy of Versailles both in its design and in its support.

Teachers are invited to build Artistic and Cultural Projects in Educational Territories (PACTE), according to pedagogical criteria including an artistic and/or scientific approach and carried out with an interdisciplinary team.

“The primary objective of this experiment is to evaluate the conditions necessary for the generalization of artistic and cultural education in schools, with the eventual publication of a scientific report such as a white paper that will allow the lessons to be shared more widely,” says Marion Desmares, head of the Foundation’s Citizen Art program.

Promoting projects

“After a first year of launch, a second edition strongly disrupted by the health crisis during which all the participants were very mobilized, we now want to show the work on the ground, strengthen the links within this community and communicate to as many people as possible the importance of artistic and cultural education,” she continues.

For the past 3 years, these projects have made it possible to develop a sensitive and critical view of the world, and enrich the teaching thanks to encounters, original collective adventures around various disciplines: writing, visual arts, performing and audiovisual arts, heritage, sustainable development, circus, architecture, arts of taste, science and techniques…

While the evaluation of the program is underway, and the health context complicates implementation, we are already seeing the energy deployed in these innovative and ambitious projects. Today, we want to highlight it and share it with as many people as possible, public and private actors in education, youth, culture, research and philanthropy.

This is why a dedicated site is being built: www.reseau-pegase.org. And from now on, we offer the newsletter “The PEGASE Newsletter”, a regular meeting to share news of current projects, give a voice to teachers, artists and students, promote exchanges and sharing of experience, provide keys to understanding and, we sincerely hope, inspire new initiatives.

Do not hesitate to share this letter with others so that we can promote the richness and diversity of PEGASE together!
