A year of alliances and consolidation, our 2021 activity report
A look back in words and images on a year 2021 that has allowed, despite the vagaries of the pandemic, to meet again and consolidate our commitment to sustainable food and civic art. Through our various programs in France and Spain, we support and accompany civil society that gives citizens the “power to act” necessary to accelerate a long-awaited transition. These are all seeds sown to build a just and sustainable future togetherat a time when war israging on our doorstep and our society is entering a new period of tension and uncertainty.
A year of cooperation, bringing transformations
Last year, we all aspired to emerge from a health and social situation that nevertheless allowed us to take an introspective step back and develop solidarity. The lessons learned from the emergency phase of 2020, where together with our partners we had to demonstrate unprecedented adaptability and creativity in the face of new needs, paved the way for the consolidation of our actions in 2021. Thus, as reflected in this activity report, this year has generated better coordination between private and public actors, in France and Spain, and above all the need to take into account the need for these groups to have access to healthy products.

Our partners carry our convictions for citizen art and sustainable food. They are the ones who, on a daily basis, work for the more inclusive, ecological and fulfilling society, to which we all aspire. We wanted to give them the floor and we thank them for their unwavering commitment.
»Our foundation, a catalyst for encounters and changes for the future
In addition to our current activities, this year was marked by structuring actions and meetings, including:
- The3rd edition of the Sustainable Food Meetings brought together 1,700 participants, in partnership with Ademe, the Banque des Territoires, INRAE, the UNESCO Chair in World Food and AgroParisTech
- The first meeting of the winners of the Committed Citizen Artist Award in Bagneux during the European Heritage Days
- The first Daniel Carasso Fellowship awarded in Madrid to 2 researchers, giving a new impetus to systems research on sustainable food in Spain
- The first edition of a call for projects dedicated to Food Democracy
- A 4th edition of the call for projects “Composing knowledge” under the sign of the ecological transition
- Strengthening philanthropic climate platforms that bring together more than 500 foundations around the world
- The publication of our 1st Climate Report
Partnership, co-construction, coalition, alliance, cooperation, community, we have always advocated these modes of action in the service of the causes we support. As a foundation, we have developed a variety of tools for more than 10 years with a view to consolidating our partner organizations and thus contributing to impact and systemic change: grants, non-financial support and investments.

In 2021, we decided to strengthen our strategy of supporting project leaders by offering them itineraries adapted to their needs, brought together under the name of ” Cartae “. The result of the fusion of the term “map” and the word “charta” in Latin, Cartæ perfectly symbolizes the diverse, varied and changing paths that we propose to take with our partners. It is only together that we can accelerate a necessary transformation that invites responsibility and attention to others.
Our team – employees, volunteers and founders – in France and Spain, remains mobilized to provide constructive responses and cultivate hope but also wonder.
