Come and debate on 03/04 in Marseille!

Citizen Art

Télérama and the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation organize their second round table. After having questioned the place of culture in a rapidly changing world, the role of the artist will be at the heart of this new debate. Join us on Thursday April 3 at the MUCEM auditorium in Marseille. A free event with registration.

In a world that is changing, can the artist remain a mediator?

In a fragmented and increasingly polarized society, should he completely revisit his role as mediator in order to claim to continue to create commonality and social ties? In a word: to make society.
What imaginaries will he have to summon to make us dream or better understand the realities of a world that is changing at high speed? What language can be used to make oneself heard and speak beyond those who are already convinced?

To discuss this, we brought together around the same table artists who confront these questions on a daily basis and a neuropsychologist convinced that art can be the most formidable vector for creating commonality: Cécile Robert, Geneviève Flaven and Thierry Boutonnier.

3 projects in the spotlight

During this meeting, we will have the pleasure of discussing La Bulle, a project recently supported by the Foundation as part of its Mediation and Cultural Democracy action. Within the Centre hospitalier d’Aiguilles-Queyras, La Bulle is a space open to meetings between residents, residents and beneficiaries, their entourage and health professionals, in order to develop a local citizen dynamic, thanks to artistic creation. Under a shared governance, driven by the values of knowledge sharing, ecology and solidarity, La Bulle is structured through a dozen artistic residencies (architectural creation, vegetable garden design, graphic development and free activation protocols), mediation actions in the village and the whole of Queyras.

In addition, Thierry Boutonnier will present the Pont Ver(t)s du Citron jaune project (National Centre for Street Arts and Public Space) in Port Saint Louis du Rhône. In the context of a municipality exposed to the externalities of the Fos-Marseille petro-industrial complex, this participatory plant work intersects with issues of food insecurity and soil pollution. Artists, researchers, social actors and residents are working to plant orchards in the city’s political districts. These food beacons, composed, planted and cultivated in a collaborative way, aim to change our sensitive relationship with trees while experimenting with innovative urban agriculture methods adapted to polluted environments.

Finally, their experiences will be cross-referenced with the show 99 caregivers, co-written with the hospital staff of the Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Marseille, and scheduled at La Criée in May 2025.
