Composing together in 2023

As we formulate our wishes for the coming year, we wish to celebrate the abundance of ideas, innovations, solutions and, above all, the formidable mobilizations we are supporting to re-enchant our future. In the midst of an unprecedented period of crisis, our role as a foundation is to support those who are working towards a fulfilling collective horizon, respectful of people and ecosystems. It is our responsibility to finance, grow, show, tell and give a voice to these “desirable futures”, and to prove that together we can face up positively to environmental and social challenges.

Sowing envy

Our two historical axes of intervention, Citizen Art and Sustainable Food, contribute to this desirable future by allowing everyone to act at their own level and collectively, in favor of change. In order to give them more impact and inspire more broadly, we encourage the promotion and dissemination of these experiences, as is the case with the ” Committed Citizen Artist Award “. These 5 new winners reveal the transformative power of art in cities, schools, retirement homes, troubled neighborhoods, care facilities… The year 2023 will also be fruitful in terms of teaching with the results of the evaluation of our programmes dedicated to agroecology, the agricultural and food transition in the territories (TETRAA) and the generalisation of the arts in schools (PEGASE).

Nurturing the links

We believe in a society that places people and the Earth at the heart of its project, that encourages responsibility and care for others. That’s what we’re doing to combat food insecurity which affects a growing number of people in France and Spain. Faced with this reality, new forms of access to quality food for all are being deployed. They share common values, including putting the public at the centre of actions and providing them with non-stigmatising access.

Nurturing links also means offering spaces for meetings and discussions. On 27 October, our first meetings on sustainable food in Spain, “unoconcinco“, brought together nearly 500 people (300 face-to-face and 200 remote). The bonds are also nourished over time and in trust. Our Cartae individual and collective support programme offers project leaders the tools and means to develop, consolidate and scale up.

The precious links are those that have accompanied us and that will remain in our hearts… We wanted to honour the memory of Bruno Latour, a passionate and fascinating philosopher, and Stavros Katsanevas, a physicist in love with the arts.

Cultivating Joy

On this path of transformation towards an ecological, inclusive and fulfilling society, it is important to celebrate victories and cultivate joy. On 8 December, our responsible and impact investment strategy was awarded the Instit Invest Special Jury Prize. This lever, which complements our sponsorship mission, developed since 2015, is taking shape in particular within our impact fund “FDNC-SFS”, created in partnership with Quadia, and our new Tiina seed program, dedicated to innovative food and art players, launched in 2022 in Spain and very soon in France.

Also in 2022, Isabelle Le Galo Flores, our Deputy General Delegate for Spain, was named in the Top 100 Women Leaders of the Social and Solidarity Economy.

These recognitions are also those of the associative, philanthropic and solidarity entrepreneurship sectors, a committed community that is building viable and exciting responses. These recognitions honour us and encourage us to go even further.

Composing together

With a renewed team in 2022, our Foundation has set new ambitions in terms of sustainable food and citizen art, with climate and social justice challenges as the common thread of its next strategy (2024-2028), as well as a significant increase in its budget. The year 2023 will allow us to explore new actions and test new philanthropic approaches, better adapted to the context of the multiple crises we are experiencing.

It is with each and every one of you, volunteers, partners, teams, friends… that we compose an open, bold, caring and trusted philanthropy to meet the challenges of our time. A major challenge but within our reach. Nothing stops an idea whose time has come. We wish you a very happy new year 2023!
