Citizen art for a more equitable and sustainable future
The evolution of the Citizen Art axis in France since 2019 testifies to a changing landscape, where the diversity of artistic expressions and commitments offers new and enriching perspectives. By sharing these stories and experiences, we hope to inspire more actors to engage in civic artistic approaches, and to recognize the profound impact that art can have on our society. This booklet is a tribute to all those who, through their creativity and commitment, contribute to building a more equitable and sustainable future.
«
All these initiatives reflect our belief that art has the power to inspire change and strengthen the social fabric, marking our commitment to an ecological and inclusive transition. This compendium highlights the actors whose creativity and commitment are actively helping to shape a more equitable and resilient future.

A diversity of actors and projects
This collection shows the richness and diversity of the actions carried out throughout France according to 3 main themes:
- Art and education : In order to strengthen access to and transmission of culture in all its forms, we believe that education and mediation are two essential levers capable of strengthening the place of art in the construction of the individual and the collective, throughout life. With our partners such as the Paris Mozart Orchestra, Orchestre à l’école or as part of our PEGASE program, we aim for enriching experiences for young people. As for our “Mediation and Cultural Democracy” action, it recognizes and values the diversity of cultural and artistic expressions as a common wealth to be preserved and shared, in isolated or troubled territories.
- Arts, sciences and society : Contemporary challenges invite dialogue and collaboration between different fields of research, creation and action – artists, scientists, civil society organizations, institutions – and fields of academic, artistic or empirical knowledge. To encourage this approach, we have set up a call for projects (Composing Knowledge), created the Arts & Sciences Chair, and support events and institutions such as the Hexagone-Scène nationale, the Scène de recherche Paris-Saclay or the Cube Garges.
- The artist, committed citizen : Many initiatives and actions are taking shape thanks to artists who open up the field of their work in the fields of social issues, education, the environment, and the social and solidarity economy. With our partners, we have set up research-creation grants and support for young artists or exiled artists. We also support institutions such as the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, the Théâtre de l’Aquarium or Artagon Marseille/Pantin. Finally, our “Committed Citizen Artist” Award highlighted demanding artistic practices, driven by artists and carried out within the framework of collective and social projects
Our support for these initiatives demonstrates the importance of a holistic approach, integrating art into sustainable development and social cohesion strategies.
