Impact investing: a new horizon of action
By generating a positive social/environmental impact and financial return, impact investing connects philanthropy and finance. A new lever for action, it allows foundations to align their investment strategy with their mission for a reinforced impact. It also opens up the field of possibilities for hybrid structures acting in the service of the general interest, which it is not always possible to support through sponsorship.
At a time of crisis, sustainable development issues and the growing needs of the SSE, how can we seize this new opportunity? How do you define a strategy consistent with your mission? Who can help you? How do you select projects?
Focus on the food transition
At the end of 2019, the Foundation had already committed €30 million in impact investments (7% of the portfolio, target 15% in 2023) and invested 79% of its portfolio in SRI investments by setting up a dedicated charter and committee.
In particular, it has created with Quadia, the FDNC-SFS fund dedicated to sustainable food, which finances bold solutions in France and Spain to make the food transition a success. This is the case of Bou’Sol, an integration company that participates in the structuring of local sectors to produce bread from organic farming and distribute it in collective catering.
