art et soin rencontre lyon

As part of their partnership renewed for a second year, the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation and Télérama are continuing their series of public meetings entitled “Les voix de l’art citoyen”, focusing on major contemporary social and cultural transformations. After Paris and Marseille, this third debate in Lyon will explore the many ways in which art and care meet today. See you on June 2 at Les Subsistances! Free event, registration required.

Art and care, a sensitive dialogue

Artistic residencies in a psychiatric hospital, co-created shows with disabled people, an art center in a nursing home… For nearly thirty years, initiatives combining art and care have been multiplying. And even more so at a time when the treatment of disability and the attention paid to mental health are undergoing major change. Firmly committed to these issues, the Daniel et Nina Carasso Foundation has set out to map these projects, whether or not they are integrated into an institution. Often born of chance encounters and individual commitments, they now constitute a breeding ground for artistic and human experience that Télérama is keen to support. So it was an excellent opportunity to get together and talk about the different ways in which we can contribute to the recognition and fulfillment of people with physical and mental disabilities.

To discuss this issue and draw on concrete examples, we’ve invited Coline Rogé, who runs the Ferme du Vinatier at the Bron psychiatric hospital, and dancer Nans Pierson from the Shonen company to a round-table discussion on Tuesday June 2 at 7pm at Les Subsistances in Lyon. We’ll broaden the debate to include the various issues at stake in this sensitive dialogue between art and care, with Hélène de Montalembert, consultant in social impact projects and co-author of this year’s diagnosis for the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation. Thomas Schlesser, author of Les Yeux de Mona (Mona’s Eyes) and director of the Fondation Hartung Bergman in Antibes, will bring an outsider’s eye to the subject.
