Faced with a world traversed by social, ecological and democratic crises, the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation has continued its commitment in 2024 to support those who imagine and experience other futures. In France and Spain, we supported 242 citizen art and sustainable food projects to the tune of €13.7 million. This year is a reflection of our conviction: to bring about a fairer, more ecological and more united society driven by collective dynamics rooted in the territories.

Change does not come from a single place, nor from a single idea. It emerges from the diversity of voices, knowledge, practices, and links that are forged. It anchors itself in reality, without renouncing ambition. It is this energy that we wish to share with you today. That of a world that does not give in to resignation, but relies on cooperation, sensitive intelligence and the ability of each person to contribute to a collective dynamic.

Making common cause to transform tomorrow

This report is more than just an assessment of the actions carried out by the Foundation in 2024: it reflects a path travelled over the past 15 years in France and over the past 10 years in Spain. Throughout this period, we have supported many structures and people who believe in the strength of the collective to transform the world. In these pages, we share not only the highlights of our history through a timeline, but also some of the achievements of the past year, and the progress of our Infinito Delicias project, a third place dedicated to culture, cuisine and innovation, which will officially open its doors this year in Madrid.

  • A year of sharing, encounters and new perspectives

In France, the year 2024 was marked by the completion of two major programs of the Foundation. On the Sustainable Food side, the TETRAA programme , which has supported 9 territories in their agricultural and food transition for 5 years, has delivered its learnings and recommendations with the publication of numerous resources, the organisation of a symposium at the National Assembly and the publication of an opinion piece in Le Monde. The “Feeding the Future” call for projects has been divided into two parts: food justice and exploration for an amount of 1 million euros. This edition has selected 29 initiatives that dare, explore and build sustainable and accessible food.

In the field of Citizen Art, the PEGASE artistic and cultural education program also delivered its lessons with the publication of an evaluation research and the organization of a debate meeting. Also, after 2 first editions in the Hauts-de-France, we have extended our call for projects ” Mediation and cultural democracy ” to the whole of metropolitan France. Singular and unifying initiatives led by citizens, artists, communities, actors in the social, hospital or educational fields, the 8 winning projects testify to the need to boost local alliances in rural areas.

In Spain, the year was also marked by many highlights, including the 2nd edition of the “Unoconcinco” meetings on sustainable food, the launch of a new call for projects “Arte por venir” which offers grants to artists and collectives, and, in December, the celebration of its 10 years of actions.

15 years of commitment, and tomorrow

Throughout 2024, we have supported promising ideas and forward-looking collective dynamics. Many of us believe that there is still time. And that beyond the temptation of fear or withdrawal, there is a deep desire for transformation. It is our role, as a Foundation, to support it, to nourish it, to share it, to make it visible. This is what we have been committed to doing for 15 years in France and 10 years in Spain. Together, let’s continue to cultivate possibilities!
