Biotic Cities

Project coordinated by Pezestudio that proposes to rethink the use of urban public space from a socio-ecological perspective. The initiative integrates citizens in sustainable urban design processes and promotes collaboration between residents, researchers and public administrations to address challenges such as the climate crisis and spatial inequalities. It was selected in the Compose Knowledge 2023 call of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation in the axis of Citizen Art and takes place for two years in Madrid and Bilbao.

Collaboration and stakeholders

The project is coordinated by Pezestudio, with the participation of L’Atelier des Jours à Venir as a collaborator in scientific mediation and implementation. In addition to these, public institutions and social entities participate in different phases of design, dialogue and action. Among them are the Madrid City Council, the Department of Urban Regeneration of the Bilbao City Council, the Municipal Board of Usera and the Sannas organization, which provides a perspective of integral sustainability.

This network seeks to articulate knowledge and decisions between citizens, organisations and administrations so that interventions in public space respond to the specific needs of each territory and generate collective learning.
