Socially engaged art
The Vega del Guadalquivir, once considered one of the most fertile areas in Europe, is now facing profound degradation as a result of the abandonment of diverse agricultural practices and the expansion of monocultures such as olive groves and peri-urban urban cover. This historical landscape, for centuries the nucleus of food and cultural production for Cordoba, has lost connection with contemporary citizen life. The project You live in an agricultural city! aims to help reverse this situation through a cultural, community and scientific approach that places the city at the centre of reflection on its agrarian identity and its sustainable future. Promoted by the Cordovan creative space Plata and selected in the Citizen Art call of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, this 18-month program articulates a transdisciplinary process to activate a collective awareness of the agricultural heritage of Córdoba and test tools for local transformation that can be replicated in other peri-urban contexts.
