Socially engaged art
Musical training initiative for young performers based on a methodology that integrates tutoring, chamber music and concerts in real social contexts. Musethica understands that performance is not only learned in the classroom: it needs listening, contact with the audience and continuous concert experience. Born in Zaragoza in 2012, the project promotes intensive sessions in which selected musicians work with leading artists and perform several times in the same week. The proposal is largely developed outside conventional auditoriums. More than 85% of Musethica’s concerts take place in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, prisons, social centres or shelters, in front of people who rarely have access to classical music. The Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation supported this project in 2014 and 2017 within its Citizen Art axis.
