Socially engaged art

School of Viol Makers

Training project in the construction of historical string instruments that recovers Iberian viol making as musical and artisanal heritage. From Zaragoza, the School of Viol Makers develops specialized courses on hand vihuela, bowed vihuela, Renaissance and Baroque guitar, Iberian lutes, Iberian harps, viola da gamba and Spanish guitar, as well as collaborating with museums and cultural institutions. Managed by the Muslyramus Cultural Association, the school also participates in initiatives such as Delyramus, which links early music, luthiery and social inclusion. The Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation supported this initiative in 2014 and again in 2017, within its Citizen Art axis and the Resonances call, which contributed to giving continuity to its educational, heritage and social work.

Supported in 2014 and 2017
