Socially engaged art
Art and inclusive education project that introduces scenic creation in public schools as a pedagogical methodology. Over two school years, New Creators involved some 230 students between the ages of 4 and 12, along with teachers and families, in a nine-month process. Through dance, body expression and other artistic languages, it places students at the centre of the process and uses the body as a common tool to facilitate participation, especially of people with functional diversity. The results show its scope: more than 77% of students perceive improvements in other subjects, 81.5% declare that they have generated new relationships and more than 70% reduce their level of shame. The initiative, developed by the Lisarco Collective, incorporates art in learning and favors social inclusion and also in the artistic field. It is developed at the CEIP Trabenco in Leganés (Madrid) with the support of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation within the framework of its Citizen Art line.
