2021 Annual Report: A Year of Partnerships and Consolidation
Words and images to recap a 2021 in which, despite the pandemic, we have managed to meet again and consolidate our commitment to sustainable food and citizen art. From our different programmes in Spain and France, we support and accompany civil society that works to put in the hands of citizens that “capacity for action” so necessary to accelerate the transition to which we aspire. In the face of a war raging and with society on the verge of a new period of tensions and uncertainties, we conceive our actions as seeds to build a just and sustainable future together.
A year of cooperation and profound
changeLast year, we all aspired to get out of a health and social situation that, despite everything, allowed us to take a step back in an introspective way and promote solidarity. The lessons learned from the 2020 state of alarm, in which our Foundation and its collaborators have shown an unusual capacity for adaptation and creativity in the face of new needs, have allowed us to consolidate some of our actions in 2021. As stated in the report, 2021 also generated greater coordination between public and private actors, both in Spain and France, and, above all, highlighted the need to improve access to healthy products for these audiences.
“Our collaborators are bearers of our convictions in favor of citizen art and sustainable food. They are the ones who, on a daily basis, act to achieve a more inclusive, ecological society that allows full development for the most vulnerable people. We wanted to give them the floor and we thank them for their unwavering commitment”.
Our Foundation: catalyst for meetings and changes for the future
Beyond our daily activity, this year has been marked by actions and meetings of a structural nature:
- The first presentation in Madrid of the Daniel Carasso Fellowship to two researchers who will give a new impetus to research in the field of sustainable food in Spain
- The first meeting of the winners of the Committed Artist Award, which took place in Bagneux within the framework of the Heritage Days
- The fourth edition of the “Composing Knowledge” call dedicated to the ecological transition
- The consolidation of philanthropic platforms for the climate that bring together more than 500 foundations from all over the world
- The publication of our first First Report on Mobilization in the Face of the Climate Challenge
- First meeting and evaluation of the PLANEA network of art and schools
- The From the field to the pantry call obtained a wide variety of projects in the rural and urban world that seek to facilitate access to sustainable food
Subsidy, investment and accompaniment: plural support to promote the transformation towards a more ecological, inclusive society that allows for full
developmentPartnership, co-construction, coalition, alliance, cooperation, community, the Foundation has always advocated for these models of action at the service of the causes it supports. For more than ten years, we have been developing a set of tools designed to consolidate our partner organizations and thus contribute to impact and systemic change: grants, financial and non-financial support, and investments.

In addition, we wanted to strengthen our strategy of supporting project managers by proposing itineraries adapted to their needs under the name of “Cartæ”. The result of the fusion of the term “carta” and the word “charta” in Latin, Cartæ perfectly symbolizes the different, varied and changing paths that we intend to take with project managers. Working together is the only way to accelerate a necessary transformation that invites responsibility and care for the other. Our teams in France and Spain – collaborators, volunteers and founders – continue to make every effort to offer constructive responses and cultivate a hope that is not without wonder.
