From the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation we are happy to announce the third edition of unoconcinco | Sustainable Food Meetings, which will be held on June 18 at the Infinito Delicias space, in Madrid. With a very varied programme in which current issues will be addressed, this biennial event reaffirms itself as a space for listening, dialogue and collaboration to respond to the challenges of sustainable food in Spain. Access will be free, after registration on the unoconcinco.org website.

The meeting, which had its previous editions in 2022 and 2024, will allow professionals, institutional representatives and members of the public to generate spaces for exchange and move towards fairer and more sustainable food systems. The event will also be a unique opportunity to raise awareness of projects and agents that are already transforming the way food is produced, distributed and consumed. Through the voice of its protagonists, it will be demonstrated that there are solutions already in place to make it possible to imagine universal access to sustainable food, respectful of the environment and rural territories, and healthy and fair for all people involved in the food system, from production to consumption.

In the current context marked by polarization, this third edition proposes a simple and transformative idea: sitting at the table around food is a good way to open conversation, generate understanding and promote shared identities. Commensality, the act of gathering around food, is one of the few places that today maintains the ability to promote dialogue and celebration in common.

In addition to major actions such as transforming production practices, generating food infrastructures that make healthy and sustainable food accessible or modifying society’s consumption patterns, transforming the food system also requires intangible processes aimed at generating trust, collective self-esteem, social cohesion and celebration. All this will be present in this edition of unoconcinco

Sustainable Food Program Manager

The Infinito Delicias space in Madrid will host round tables, workshops and conversations with an agenda that will address some of the main current issues around food, such as access to land and generational renewal in agriculture and livestock, artificial intelligence or the decline in the daily use of kitchens.

The path of unoconcinco as a platform for dialogue on sustainable food

In its first two editions, through the testimonies of multiple protagonists in the process of transition to a more sustainable food system, unoconcinco has shown that the food transition is a collective task that requires ambitious public policies, innovation, investment, research and communication, as well as cooperation between those who produce, distribute, research, prescribe and consume food.

Through dialogue and exchange, unoconcinco has also become a meeting space for the construction of alliances between different actors working to address the main challenges posed by the development of more sustainable food systems.
