NOTE V: Investigating Mediation as a Living Practice
The fifth edition of NOTAR, the research residency programme promoted by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation and the hablarenarte cultural association, has been resolved with the selection of three projects. This initiative, focused on cultural, artistic and community mediation practices, continues to consolidate itself once again as a space to support research into new forms of learning, relationships and collective creation.
The selection of this fifth edition of NOTE reminds us that cultural mediation is a fundamental space for imagining other forms of relationship, learning and coexistence. The chosen projects address urgent issues such as linguistic diversity, memory, care, archives and the common from sensitive, situated and profoundly transformative methodologies.
Anneke Raskin
Head of Citizen Art programs at the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation
In this edition, the call received 297 applications and a two-phase process was developed for its evaluation. In the first, 10 proposals were selected by a committee made up of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation (Anneke Raskin and Ane Rodríguez), hablarenarte (Flavia Introzzi, Mamen Adeva, Emma Brasó) and two external professionals (Leticia Cano and Timanfaya Custodio).
In the second phase, these ten initiatives were assessed, carrying out, as a novelty, online interviews to deepen the dialogue. Finally, three projects were selected by the jury (Anneke Raskin, from the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation; Mamen Adeva and Flavia Introzzi, from hablarenarte; Alba Cacheda, from the María José Jove Foundation; and Betisa Ojanguren San Millán, from the Huarte Center). The three residencies will take place in person in Madrid between September and November 2026.

Catherine Lie – España | Sourdough Architecture: Testing Cultural Mediation as Living Infrastructure
An artistic research project that addresses fermentation, bread-making and everyday knowledge as forms of encounter, care and shared memory, understanding cultural mediation as a living infrastructure to sustain the common.
The jury also highlighted as an alternate proposal the candidacy of Ángela Palacios Ramírez, with Cuerpxs colectivos.
In order to share the deliberation process and promote the transparency of the resolution, the jury’s report is available, which includes the main reflections that arose during the selection.
