Public 20, 10 years of #FelizCultura
On 30 January, the Círculo de Bellas Artes will host Pública 20, a meeting point for Spanish culture that invites you to experiment and take risks by innovating, moving away from conventional discourses to learn from the shared experience and interaction of the attendees
Pública 20 is presented at the beginning of the year to make us reflect on the cultural moment we are living in Spain, analyse trends in different forms of knowledge, share what we have learned and continue to arouse curiosity in citizens, in each one of us, about how necessary it is to live culture to cultivate our thinking.
#FelizCultura is the motto of this tenth edition of the meeting promoted by Fundación Contemporánea and which comes with the purpose of celebrating #DiezAñosHaciendoAmigos. During this decade, cultural professionals have shared projects, difficulties and hopes at a time of social, economic, cultural and technological transformation. For this reason, we came to Pública 20 with the desire to learn, to weave networks and to share our learnings in Citizen Art, one of our lines of action together with Sustainable Food.
Ten conversations
To commemorate 10 years of Pública, we will be able to enjoy a dozen conversations in which to participate, from culture (Culture is economy!), to the city or innovation to offer answers to the changes in cultural habits that are being brought about by new technologies. Conversations are added around “New young people. Old young people” or the 2030 Agenda in terms of “Work in development”, or coexistence to promote inclusive environments “Equally”. If you want to know the keys to the sustainability of cultural projects, go to “In balance”, where the importance of “collaboration” will be recalled, or to “Future”, where it will be discussed how cultural projects that use technology in favor of knowledge and education benefit us.
“Mediating”
At the Foundation, we understand that cultural mediation encompasses all those activities that constitute a forum for exchange and participation, which allows new levels of involvement in the construction of community and culture to be reached between cultural institutions, artists, artistic collectives and mediators.
We consider that cultural mediation is an excellent tool for social improvement that empowers citizens and enables them to reflect, share and actively participate, through art, in the definition and resolution of the challenges and problems of their context. At the same time, mediation allows cultural institutions, artists, artistic collectives, etc., to also transform and update their way of working in favor of a social mission, useful for citizens, which must be confronted with contemporary challenges.
For this reason, at Pública 20 we will promote the tenth conversation, “Mediando”, together with:
–Eva García: Curator of community artistic production and creation projects.
–José Luis Pérez Pont: manager of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community and director of the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània de València.
–Cristina Saéz: our project coordinator of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, who will present our firm commitment to the promotion of cultural measurement, a month before we launch our new 2020 Calls, which in Arte Ciudadano will support mediation through “Alliances for a Cultural Democracy”, whose bases we will publish soon.
–Leire San Martín: head of the Mediation area of Tabakalera Donostia.
–Manuela Villa: moderator of the conversation and head of the Centre for Artistic Residencies (CRA) of Matadero Madrid and Co-director of the Master’s Degree in International Cultural Management and Social Innovation at the Complutense University of Madrid.
In addition, Pública 20 will have “A coffee with…”, a new space in which attendees will be able to share a table and coffee with different protagonists of culture. Our director for Spain, Isabelle Le Galo Flores, will be one of the participants of this meeting point that provides the opportunity to share a direct and unscripted conversation, where you can chat in a relaxed way, exchange ideas and propose collaborations with other professionals in the sector.
