One City Many Worlds

A creative and research programme that explores how artistic and social practices are linked to life in the city of Madrid through collective experiences, interdisciplinary dialogue and shared learning. From this approach, A City Many Worlds (UCMM) investigates forms of action, thought and critical urban intervention that arise from both theory and practice. The project has integrated various activities, including public receptions, meetings, workshops, debates, tours of the city and presentations of results, which have served to share collaborative work processes with active communities or those to be built. Through this experimental process, problems and knowledge are generated that feed new ways of producing culture, and a methodological and conceptual toolbox is built for those who work on collective projects of urban creation and research. The programme has invited people, groups and organisations with an interest in experimental forms of creation or research from fields such as visual arts, performing arts, anthropology, urban planning, education or the humanities to collaborate. UCMM takes place at Intermediæ – Matadero Madrid and has had the support of Edmond de Rothschild Foundations and the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation.
