Socially engaged art
Drafts of the future. Stories and Fabulations about Possible Worlds proposes speculative stories that derive from real initiatives in the face of ecological, social, cultural and economic challenges. This collection of short stories explores how existing responses in different territories, from community projects to cultural proposals, could be transformed into broader realities . The publication articulates these fictions as tools to imagine possible alternative futures in the face of the prevalence of narratives focused on crises and catastrophes. The collection was born in the Azala creation space, with the participation of authors such as Katixa Agirre, Uxue Alberdi and Lucía Baskaran, and has the support of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation within the framework of its Citizen Art axis. Among the contributions is the participation of Unai Pascual, scientist at the Basque Centre for Climate Change and co-author of international reports on biodiversity. The project complements the stories with Futurible workshops and activities that link fiction with cultural and community practices.
