Alimenta Merindades Organic Store

In the Burgos region of Las Merindades (Castilla y León), the Alimenta Merindades association has consolidated an agri-food project focused on strengthening the production and consumption of organic and local food. Created in 2018 to support local agroecological producers and facilitate the population’s access to their products, the organization has extended its activity from orders between members to the opening of an organic store in Medina de Pomar, which offers fruits, vegetables, bulk products, dairy products, preserves and sustainable hygiene items. This commercial space, supported by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation within its Sustainable Food axis, acts as a meeting point and center for training activities, with talks and workshops on environmentally friendly practices and responsible consumption. The initiative seeks to consolidate short marketing circuits, increase the base of producers and serve as a reference in the region for alternative agri-food models oriented towards food sovereignty.
