Socially engaged art
Project promoted by the El Sublime Metabolic Prototyping Laboratory at Medialab Matadero that investigates material alternatives to the climate impact of construction. His work focuses on the reuse of ash from the burning of industrial waste as a possible partial substitute for Portland cement, one of the main emitters of CO₂ on a global scale. From a practice that connects art, architecture and scientific knowledge, the team analyzes the energy and extractive footprints that transform the territory. The project, selected in the Citizen Art axis of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, combines material experimentation and critical reflection to open ways of regeneration in environments affected by infrastructures such as the Valdemingómez landfill, with special attention to the communities that coexist with these spaces.
