Sustainable food
A project that promotes the consumption of local agri-food products and strengthens the relationship between local producers and rural accommodation in the southwest of La Rioja. Lo local va contigo promotes short marketing circuits and brings visitors and the local population closer to the food production of the territory through awareness-raising actions, including the distribution of welcome baskets with local food in rural tourism establishments. The initiative is developed within the framework of Terralimenta, a programme promoted by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation together with Red2Red that accompanies Local Action Groups throughout Spain in the transition towards sustainable food systems. In this context, the European Centre for Information and Promotion of the Rural Environment (CEIP Rural), a local action group that brings together 91 municipalities in the southwest of La Rioja, participates in Terralimenta to strengthen territorial agri-food networks, boost cooperation between producers, cooperatives and rural tourism, and move towards more sustainable food models.
