Paisaje del Delta del Ebro del proyecto Garba de investigación artística con materiales de desecho

Socially engaged art

Garba

In the Ebro Delta, an artistic research project explores how materials discarded by local activity can become a matter for creative reflection. Garba brings together researcher and designer Sara González de Ubieta, curator and writer Marc Navarro and artist David Bestué to work with by-products such as mussel shells, rice straw and vegetable fibres from environmental, social and cultural perspectives. The initiative, promoted by Lo Pati – Centre d’Art Terres de l’Ebre de Amposta and supported by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, proposes quarterly meetings over two years in which artists, organisations and citizens of the territory will be connected to test alternative uses of these materials through workshops and public presentation spaces. The first phase was presented at an open day at the Baladre artistic residency in June 2024, with interventions, sculptures and pieces that appeal to the relationship between creative practices and the delta landscape.
