Socially engaged art
Digital creation and manufacturing laboratory aimed at promoting artistic, creative and maker projects with social, educational or environmental impact. Their approach combined workspace, training and access to digital manufacturing tools with technical support to develop prototypes and advice to strengthen the viability of each initiative. La Casa Encendida (Madrid) presented it as a working method to turn ideas into projects capable of sustaining themselves over time, with residency, accompaniment and the use of specialised machinery. More than a space focused on technology per se, La__b Marmita emphasized learning processes, collaboration and the practical application of digital manufacturing to specific problems. This orientation is also reflected in the winning projects of 2016 and 2017, which ranged from critical jewelry inspired by deterrent architecture to multisensory books, experimental poetry, embroidery with technological components or jewelry made with Super 8 film. The project was supported by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation within its Citizen Art axis.
Supported between 2015 and 2018
