Visualización abstracta de datos astronómicos en el proyecto de arte, ciencia y tecnología de LABoral

Socially engaged art

LABoral y European Digital Art and Science Network

A dissemination project on art, science and technology that articulated exhibitions, workshops, conferences and an open laboratory in Gijón to explore the relationship between digital creation, astronomy, open source and citizen science. Within the framework of the European Digital Art and Science Network (a European network active between 2014 and 2017 that connected cultural partners with scientific institutions such as ESA, CERN and ESO to promote artistic residencies, interdisciplinary work and new audiences), LABoral developed activities such as Astrodata, focused on astronomical data visualization together with the European Southern Observatory, and WinterLAB 2016, a free program linked to the exhibition Monsters of the Machine. The initiative brought together schoolchildren, adults, artists and the scientific community in shared workspaces on social media, hybridization and scientific culture. The Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation supported this project in 2016, within the Citizen Art axis and the Compose Knowledge call.
