Socially engaged art
Theater project of the Teatro Joven Foundation that integrates young artists, technicians and teachers to produce contemporary works that dialogue with the concerns of adolescents and young adults. Born in 2012 as a response to the youth employment crisis and the decline in artistic education in schools and institutes, this company has premiered more than twenty productions and has brought together hundreds of thousands of spectators in theaters throughout Spain. LaJoven extends the presence of the performing arts among young audiences by offering workshops, educational meetings and stagings that invite reflection on current issues. His work is recognized with awards such as El Ojo Crítico de Teatro and multiple nominations for the Max Awards. Within the framework of its Citizen Art axis, the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation supports this project as an example of how artistic practices can strengthen the critical spirit and cultural participation of the younger generations, by articulating culture, education and community to generate impact on the social fabric.
