Socially engaged art
Translation into the Basque Country of the French project Nouveaux Commanditaires, New Limited Partners opened the possibility for citizens to promote artistic commissions based on issues that affect their environment. The programme was developed between 2011 and 2017 in Bilbao, Oion, Hernani and Barakaldo, with the mediation of Haizea Barcenilla, Idoia Zabaleta and Amanda Díaz-Ubierna, and with production and support from Artehazia; later, the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation joined in its Citizen Art axis. One of her projects was Andrekale, in Hernani, where a work on the memory and visibility of women in public space gave rise, between 2014 and 2016, to a proposal by Ms. Polaroiska composed of a video installation, a dissemination piece and an intervention in the street. New Limited Partners The Basque Country is listed as a precursor to the Concomitentes network in Spain.
