Sustainable food

Orduña Food Systems Laboratory

The project accompanies the update of the Orduña Food Strategy 2030 to consolidate a food model based on local production, short marketing circuits and access to healthy food. The municipality, with about 4,000 inhabitants, has been promoting public policies linked to agroecology and the development of the primary sector since the early 2000s. The process combines diagnosis of the local food system, participation of producers, associations and social agents, and definition of lines of action until 2030. The Orduña City Council is developing the project together with the socio-community association Zapalan Elkartea and with the support of the Circular and Sustainable Economy research group of the University of the Basque Country. The initiative is funded by the Territorialized Food Systems call of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, within its Sustainable Food axis.
