Project context
The Old Town of Pamplona faces limitations of green spaces within a consolidated urban environment. Plantadanía identified in this territory an opportunity to restore nature in areas with little vegetation, reconfigure practices of relationship with the built environment and activate dialogues between creative fields and citizen knowledge.
Since its launch in 2022, the program has sought to reimagine the city as a space where humans and nature actively coexist. The project introduces methods that combine aesthetic interventions, scientific approaches and dynamics of neighbourhood participation.
Objectives of Plantadanía
The main purpose of the project is to promote urban renaturation in the Old Town of Pamplona through a series of creative and collective actions. Its specific objectives include:
-
Expand the presence of vegetation within the historic urban fabric.
-
To promote links of care and collaboration between residents and the natural environment.
-
Integrate artistic discourses and scientific knowledge into practices of transformation of public space.
-
Build sustainable and continuous experiences that transcend the program’s execution deadlines.
Cycle II: focus on the Village of San Cernin
Cycle II, with a duration of two years, concentrates its intervention in the Burgo de San Cernin, one of the most emblematic sectors of the Old Town. This phase seeks to consolidate renaturation processes with the neighbourhood and with local entities, as well as with guest creators from different arts and scientific disciplines. The intention is to activate environmental recovery processes that integrate the inhabitants themselves in the decisions and design practices of the environment.
