Socially engaged art
The project articulates artistic research, science, technology and activism toredefine society’s relationship with rivers from a hydrocentric perspective. Supported by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, the initiative is co-financed as part of the Compose Knowledge 2023 call and operates in the Ebro, Segre and Llobregat basins with the aim of promoting the remediation of river basins and strengthening citizen participation in water management. The design and execution of the project are in charge of a consortium of institutions: the Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation, the Centre d’Art La Panera in Lleida and Homesession in Barcelona, under the artistic direction of Carlos Monleón and Asunción Molinos, with scientific advice from Rosa Gil Iranzo. This alliance seeks to generate a new culture of water through the exchange of knowledge, techniques and experiences between scientific, artistic, technological and activist communities, overcoming the administrative barriers that fragment watersheds.
