Rooting food policies in Zaragoza

The city promotes a public food policy that seeks to ensure that eating well and sustainably is present in municipal decisions and translates into initiatives with social impact. The City Council, together with the organizations CERAI and Mensa Cívica and with the support of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, develops the project Rooting municipal food policies in the city of Zaragoza: alliances and development of initiatives, which emphasizes the promotion of public purchases of food with sustainability criteria in all municipal centers, reinforces coordination with Social Services to improving access to the right to adequate food and strengthening the participation of local actors in the definition of municipal food policies. The program has generated actions such as the School of Community Food Health Agents, where neighbors of different profiles are trained in healthy and sustainable habits and become references in their communities.
