Ruralitude

Ruralitud is a digital platform promoted by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation with the support of the Center for Rural Studies and International Agriculture (CERAI). The project is part of our support for sustainable agricultural entrepreneurship as a Territorialized Food System (SAT). The Ruralitud platform offers guidance for rural entrepreneurship, practical resources and inspiring examples for people who want to develop productive initiatives linked to the territory and contribute to a fairer, more inclusive and healthier food system.

What Ruralitud offers

The platform articulates its content in three main areas aimed at supporting sustainable agricultural entrepreneurship:

  • Orientation
This section describes key phases of the design and implementation of an agricultural production project. It includes analysis of the context of the field, common barriers to new ventures and concrete recommendations to advance from idea to execution.
  • Inspiring
    initiatives
Ruralitud compiles examples of real projects in different regions of Spain that work as a reference for other people interested in rural entrepreneurship. Each case shows how the initiative has been structured, what challenges it has faced and what lessons it has generated.
  • Resources
This section brings together useful materials to delve into topics related to the agricultural sector and rural entrepreneurship. It contains links to tools, curated bibliography, and other resources that complement the guidance offered on the platform.

Relevance for the rural sector

Ruralitud addresses structural challenges faced by Spanish rural areas, including generational renewal in the agricultural sector and the need to provide accessible knowledge for those who start productive projects. The platform proposes a practical look at technical, administrative and contextual aspects, designed for people with different levels of experience.

This approach contributes to strengthening local capacities and promoting a more sustainable and resilient food production model from a territorial point of view.

Foundation Strategy

The Ruralitud initiative is part of the Sustainable Food strategy of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation. It contributes to the institutional mission of supporting processes that promote food systems with greater territorial balance, inclusiveness and sustainability. The platform complements other actions of the Foundation aimed at strengthening networks, capacities and experiences around sustainable food production.
