Socially engaged art
A project that proposes a different way of relating to the Internet: more sustainable, more understandable and with greater autonomy for those who use it. SolarNET.HUB brings the public tools and knowledge to explore alternative connections to the dominant grid, with a critical look at their social, ecological and political impact. To do this, it combines cultural mediation, technical experimentation and open resources that help to better understand how today’s digital architecture works. The initiative takes the form of publications, exhibitions, workshops and colloquiums, together with the development of a ready-to-use physical artifact and accompanied by open technical documentation. Promoted by Kräken.LABs and supported by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation in the 2021 Compose Knowledge call, within the Citizen Art axis, SolarNET.HUB proposes a practical way to connect in a safer, more inclusive and responsible way.
