Thinking of an Axe

The project consists of the preparation of a practical guide entitled Thinking an axe. Build your own alliance for cultural democracy, designed as a roadmap for community culture initiatives that seek to organize and manage spaces with citizen participation. This publication collects successes and mistakes, strategies and concrete learnings, based on the work carried out in Harinera ZGZ, a community culture space in Zaragoza publicly managed together with citizen agents. The guide was developed to offer advice applicable in diverse contexts and to support collectives and organizations that are designing models of participation and shared governance. The manual was promoted by the project Pensar una hache, which was selected in the Alliances for a Cultural Democracy 2020 call of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation. The work process combines internal experiences with external contributions through thematic teams that have systematized key issues such as cultural rights, social economy, neighborhood and impact evaluation, with the aim of facilitating the replicability of the model in other territories.
