Under the Hat

An initiative that promotes processes of creation and artistic accompaniment with people with intellectual disabilities so that these languages become part of contemporary art. Born in 2007 in Matadero Madrid as an assisted studio for artists, Debajo del Sombrero has been working since then on artistic development, public visibility and professional recognition of its participants. Her approach combines creation, methodological research and support for artistic careers with a sustained work of opening cultural contexts to voices that for years were left out of the usual circuits. The Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation supported this initiative in 2013 within the Citizen Art axis.
