For an agro-ecological transition through exchange and sharing – 2020

To accelerate the transition to agriculture and food, we have brought together 4 networks (Fadear, Cuma, Civam and Trame) around a shared vision of agroecology that can transform all current forms of agriculture and inspire new players. This alliance has resulted in 3 annual calls for projects (2020-2021-2022) aimed at supporting exchanges of experience between groups of farmers from different backgrounds, who are not accustomed to talking to each other and who want to learn from each other’s practices.

DDTour Agro-ecology Tours

Normandy Biodiversity and Sustainable Development Agency

NORMANDIE

The Agence Normande de la Biodiversité et du Développement durable (ANBDD) is offering Norman farmers 5 permanent circuits of visits to inspiring professionals who practice and raise awareness of agroforestry, hedgerows, grassland farming and conservation agriculture. Following the 700 planned visits, CIVAM will facilitate the transfer of practices by offering support to interested farmers.

Sorting, a lever for agroecology

FRcuma Ouest

BRITTANY

Combining cereals and legumes is a promising agro-ecological practice, but one that comes up against a number of technical challenges, particularly when it comes to sorting the harvest. Several hundred men and women farmers in 30 groups from the CUMA, CIVAM, CETA and GAB networks in the Brittany, Pays de la Loire and Normandy regions are exchanging information on sorting solutions to massify this practice, through group visits and annual meetings.

Mediterranean Agroecological Market Garden Systems (SMAEM)

GR CIVAM PACA

PROVENCES-ALPES-CÔTES D’AZUR

Transmission Past’Orale

Civam Empreinte

OCCITANIE

Pastoral farming, an integral part of the ecology and history of the Causses and Cévennes, is being lost. However, over 30 shepherds and shepherdesses from 3 disparate collectives are reviving pastoralism and are keen to exchange, capitalize on and revive this knowledge and know-how. CIVAM Empreinte accompanies these groups and disseminates their knowledge to breeders (via the Institut de l’élevage), young apprentices and those setting up in business.

TRANS’TRAE

FRCUMA AuRA

AUVERGNE-RHÔNE-ALPES

Some fifty farmers from the Rhône-Loire region, from the CUMA, FEVEC and CDA networks, are exchanging information on agro-ecological practices for managing animal health, forage autonomy, soil health and more. The collective is supported by the FR CUMA, TRAME and ISARA to train “trainer breeders” who will become ambassadors for these practices.

Supporting the agro-ecological transition in the Minervois region

Chemin Cueillant

OCCITANIE

The fifty or so winegrowers who are members of Chemin cueillant have been experimenting with agroecological practices for several years. Faced with climate change, a growing number of winegrowers in the Minervois and St Chinian regions are turning to the association. We offer them training, field visits and support in changing their practices to adapt to global warming.

Transition Agri’cultur’art

PETR Pays Midi Quercy

OCCITANIE

Actors in the Pays Midi Quercy region have noted the isolation and lack of links between farmers. They are organizing exchanges between farmers from the “produit en Midi Quercy” charter, CIVAM Semailles, FDCUMA 82 and ADEAR 82, with the help of the La Cuisine art center.

Agroecological helping hand

Cols verts Martinique – Ta Nou

MARTINIQUE

In Martinique, Koudmen used to consist of neighboring farmers helping each other with particularly physical manual tasks (weeding, harvesting, etc.). Several dozen farmers are revitalizing this tradition by organizing a Koudmen of around 15 farmers every 2 months. Les Cols verts, with the support of organic networks and the Chamber of Agriculture, combine this mutual aid with a moment of convivial exchange and training in agro-ecological practices.

A SCIC serving traditional Guyanese agriculture

AGREG – Agroecology Guyana

GUYANNE

80% of Guyana’s 6,000 farmers practice traditional family farming, which is not recognized despite its environmental virtues. Agroécologie Guyane (AgrEG) is setting up a network of traditional pilot farms, providing a forum for exchanges between farmers’ collectives and with consumers. These exchanges should lead to the creation of an official certification recognizing and promoting sustainable traditional Guianese agriculture.
