Socially engaged art
Artistic laboratory for the climate established in Matadero Madrid that He conceives the environmental crisis as a phenomenon that combines scientific, cultural and political dimensions. Designed to provoke new ways of imagining and addressing climate challenges through collective intelligence, it brings together diverse actors from art, science, design, humanities and citizenship to to develop experimental projects that explore environmental narratives that promote cultural and social transformations in urban contexts such as Madrid. The Mutant Institute of Environmental Narratives (IMNA) has been operating since 2018 as an interdisciplinary research and experimentation device, capable of producing exhibitions, prototypes, workshops, radio programs and climate fiction projects that seek to to contribute to a change of mentalities in the face of environmental emergency scenarios. This approach has received institutional and research support, including that of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, within its program Composing knowledge to understand contemporary challenges 2019, which strengthened the collaborative work network promoted by IMNA together with the Madrid City Council, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Matadero Madrid.
