Sustainable food
Project in the Madrid district of Villaverde that seeks to reverse one of the main difficulties of the local agri-food sector: the lack of accessible storage, order coordination and distribution services for small production and transformation projects. The initiative is structured as a service cooperative that operates from a warehouse in the Marconi industrial estate and serves both its member entities and other producers interested in strengthening their presence in the markets of the Community of Madrid. Started in 2019 after a collective process of identifying logistics needs, the project offers receipt and departure of goods, order preparation and coordinated transport, with the aim of making it easier for producers to spend more time on production and less on operational management. Madrid Km0 is part of the portfolio of projects supported by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation in its Sustainable Food axis, with the aspiration of consolidating an infrastructure that contributes to food alternatives based on agroecology being able to scale and diversify their marketing channels within the urban environment.
