Socially engaged art
Community-based artistic learning project that organizes a school during extracurricular hours in four schools in the Centro district of Madrid and supports an orchestra and choir open to different ages. Orquesta Escuela del Barrio (OEB) arose from the collaboration between AMPAs and other educational and cultural agents, with a proposal focused on collective practice and the opening of meeting and performance spaces in the district. The initiative involves children, adolescents and adults in a participatory structure in which the students are part of the association and the life of the project. Her work seeks to expand access to artistic practice, strengthen links between generations and consolidate a local network around school, shared creation and the cultural life of the environment. The OEB was part of the Art and School projects accompanied by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation in Spain in its Citizen Art axis.
