Socially engaged art
The project proposes a unique educational experience in rural environments by linking music and active listening with the daily life of the girls and boys of the Colegio Rural Agrupado Ribera del Porma (León). This initiative of Fundación Cerezales Antonino y Cinia is deployed through the continuous presence of the musician and pedagogue Luis Martínez Campo during school hours, together with the pianist and composer Hara Alonso and the participation of Juventudes Musicales de León, to build sound creation processes that connect directly with curricular subjects such as mathematics, language and sciences from the exploration of the soundscape, orality and recording. The experience incorporates group activities that invite students to answer questions such as how do we sound? or what does our environment sound like?, and culminates in workshops and exhibitions open to families. The project has been co-financed by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, which has allowed its development over three academic years between 2017 and 2020 with the involvement of teachers, families and cultural agents, and with the aim of stimulating the creativity, empowerment and critical thinking of students from an active relationship with their context.
Ongoing support since 2017
