Terralimenta presents the new LEADER groups selected in its third edition
We start February with the good news that the Terralimenta programme, promoted by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, in collaboration with Red2Red, has presented the nine LEADER groups selected in its third edition. With this election, there are now thirty projects that are part of this initiative, which supports LEADER Groups as agents of change for the transition to more sustainable food production systems.
In this process, 17 applications have been received and, after an initial pre-selection of 12 groups for the final phase, nine of them were chosen to be part of this program. From this announcement, a path of accompaniment begins in which they will receive training, specialized technical advice, support in the development of their specific actions and a network of collaboration is created between them. In this way, it seeks to strengthen their capacities in the design, development and execution of projects that promote the promotion of sustainable food.
In this third edition, the jury selected the following groups:
- Donostialdea-Bidasoa BEHEMENDI Rural Development Association (Basque Country, Gipuzkoa)
- Urremendi Rural Development Association (Busturialdea-Urdaibai) (Basque Country, Bizkaia)
- Island Association for Rural Development of La Gomera (AIDER La Gomera) (Canary Islands, La Gomera)
- “Cáparra” Rural Development Centre (Extremadura, Cáceres)
- La Siberia Rural Development Centre (Extremadura, Badajoz)
- Consorci Grup d’Acció Local Alt Urgell-Cerdanya (Catalonia, Lleida)
- Bajo Aragón-Matarraña Local Action Group (OMEZYMA) (Aragon, Teruel)
- Local Action Group Sierra Espuña Territory (Region of Murcia, Murcia)
- Guadix Rural Development Group (Andalusia, Granada)
Terralimenta is thus reinforced with the incorporation of these groups into a community in which other actors oriented towards Territorialized Agri-Food Systems (SATs) already participate, involved in the production, distribution and marketing of agri-food products.

The jury for this edition was made up of Carolina Perán Cordero, head of service in the Subdirectorate General of Coordination and Initiatives against Depopulation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge; María Coto Sauras, senior associate Spain and Land Use of the European Climate Foundation; Sara Josefa Herrero Rodríguez, head of the Management Unit of the CAP Network of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food; Raquel Pastor Carretero, expert in rural and territorial development of the European Association for Local Development and Innovation. It also had the participation of Lucía Casani, director for Spain of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation; Eva Torremocha, director of Sustainable Food, and Henar Vico, program coordinator of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation. Likewise, with Perrine Deschellette and Raquel Juste, from the Red2Red technical team.
