We awarded two projects in partnership with the Food For Good Challenge!
We are especially excited to announce the two projects that the Foundation has decided to award within the framework of the Food For Good Challenge: Les Petites Cantines (France) and Subbética Ecológica (Spain). We travelled to Lyon and Andalusia to discover these two innovative and concrete solutions in favour of a healthy, sustainable and balanced diet.
Food For Good Challenge
After addressing the problems of water and waste in its previous editions, this third edition of the FAMAE Foundation competition held in 2020 focuses on food. The aim of the competition is to promote the development of innovative and concrete solutions, “from the field to the table”, which contribute to a healthy, sustainable and balanced diet accessible to everyone anywhere in the world.
There are more than 4000 applications that have been submitted to opt for global funding of 2 million euros, designed so that projects can go from idea to final product and make themselves known.
The award-winning projects offer a response to different challenges linked to food, ranging from production to consumption, through transformation and logistics. Within our Sustainable Food line, we consider it appropriate to contribute to this list of winners by supporting two projects of general interest that are being developed in our two countries of intervention, France and Spain, with an endowment of €20,000 for each.
FAMAE is an independent family foundation that finances projects that seek to reduce our environmental footprint in all areas of the circular economy.
More information about our participation in the competition here.
Subbética Ecológica
In the heart of Andalusia, south of the city of Cordoba. In this region rich in orchards and ancestral crops, the Subbética Ecológica association has been acting for 10 years as a link between producers and consumers, small businesses and school canteens through a short distribution circuit and always around organic food.
The association is currently at an inflection point in terms of development and is determined to become a driver of social and environmental transition on a larger scale. Its strengths: its solid territorial consolidation and its demonstrated ability to bring together different private, public, social and solidarity economy, professional or voluntary actors around a common vision of agricultural development and local consumption. We invite you to discover its fresh and organic products (baskets, Ecoshop…)!
Les Petites Cantines
In France, a quarter of the population feels excluded, abandoned or insignificant. Based on this reality, the Les Petites Cantines association has designed a model of free-price neighbourhood canteen with the idea of alleviating the loneliness of these people and allowing them to experience sustainable food in a shared way. This is a meeting space around healthy and participatory meals and all this in exchange for the price set by the diner. And to eat? Organic and local products, forgotten legumes and large doses of hospitality, empathy and collective intelligence to contribute to the construction of a society based on trust.
Created in Lyon, this non-profit network is currently in full development and already has points in Lille, Strasbourg and Annecy. There are also projects about to start in Oullins, Metz and Paris.
