Catalogue of ecological suppliers for nursery schools in Madrid

Madrid city, articulating the regional agri-food system. Agroecological alliances and projects from the Milan Pact is a practical tool that gathers information on farms and small food companies in the Community of Madrid that work with ecological criteria. The document makes it easier for school canteens to find and buy local food organised by food groups (vegetables, legumes, eggs, meat, dairy products, bread, oil, honey, canned goods or fish). It also incorporates contact details and basic references for each supplier, allowing nursery schools to quickly identify sourcing options that are close to and tailored to their needs. The publication was prepared within the framework of the project of the same name developed by Justicia Alimentaria and Germinando, with the collaboration of Garúa through its Feeding Change initiative. Its objective is to bring Madrid’s organic production closer to the municipal network of nursery schools and facilitate the incorporation of local food into its menus. The work has the support of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation within its Sustainable Food axis.
