Biolíbere

The project Promotion and consolidation of inclusive agroecological consumption in the south of Madrid – Food Social Security Project launches a pilot experience of Food Social Security (SSA) in the cooperative and self-managed supermarket Biolíbere, located in the municipality of Getafe. The initiative seeks to facilitate regular access to agroecological food for individuals and families for whom the price of these products constitutes a barrier in their shopping basket. The pilot experiments with a model inspired by social health security applied to the food sector. A group of participants receives a monthly allowance to buy food in the cooperative supermarket and participates in accompanying activities and training on food. The initiative is developed with the support of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, within its Sustainable Food axis, and aims to generate knowledge that contributes to advancing towards public policies capable of guaranteeing universal access to healthy, sustainable and fair food.
