Eight projects selected for the last phase of the Tiina programme
Tiina, the impact investment program launched by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation with the collaboration of the Ship2B Foundation, enters its second phase with the selection of eight projects whose business models have the greatest possibilities of generating a social and/or environmental impact. The chosen entities will enter an intensive acceleration program in which they opt to receive a soft loan for their financing.
The selection committee of Tiina, an impact investment program, promoted by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation in collaboration with the Ship2B Foundation has already determined the eight finalist entities that will move on to the second and final phase.
Let us remember that, in this first edition of the program, Tiina has an endowment of 600,000 euros to be distributed over three years to support and finance social enterprises, start-ups or non-profit entities that operate in Spain and that have an innovative project, with potential for profitability or self-sustainability. The maximum premise of these incipient companies must be to promote a real transformation towards a more ecological, just and inclusive society through sustainable food or citizen art.
After the evaluation of applications and the initial diagnosis of the projects at the level of social and/or environmental impact, business model and team, sixteen projects were selected to participate in an Impact Business Bootcamlast June in Barcelona.
“During the first phase, the projects have shown a lot of motivation and enthusiasm, as well as a huge desire to learn and strengthen their proposal, working on their theory of change, their business model or new leadership strategies. We also share this enthusiasm to see how the foundations of their proposals grow and strengthen The profile of these initiatives that carry in their hearts a different economic proposal, typical of the social and solidarity economy, is particularly exciting”.
Isabelle Le Galo, director for Spain of the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation
At this meeting, the different entities received training and mentoring on key topics such as impact measurement, business model, investment readiness, leadership and communication. In addition, these days of intense interaction allowed us to learn more about the potential and willingness to generate systemic changes of all these initiatives, and finally, after an exhaustive analysis, eight proposals were selected to move forward in the programme.
“We believe that there is great potential to be developed in the coming years and we hope that some projects will access the program’s fund. When we opted for Venture Philanthropy, it was still at a very early stage in Spain, seeing these first results encourages us to continue with our commitment”.
